2025-11-16[CodeGen] Turn MCRegUnit into an enum class (NFC) (#167943)Sergei Barannikov
This changes `MCRegUnit` type from `unsigned` to `enum class : unsigned` and inserts necessary casts. The added `MCRegUnitToIndex` functor is used with `SparseSet`, `SparseMultiSet` and `IndexedMap` in a few places. `MCRegUnit` is opaque to users, so it didn't seem worth making it a full-fledged class like `Register`. Static type checking has detected one issue in `PrologueEpilogueInserter.cpp`, where `BitVector` created for `MCRegister` is indexed by both `MCRegister` and `MCRegUnit`. The number of casts could be reduced by using `IndexedMap` in more places and/or adding a `BitVector` adaptor, but the number of casts *per file* is still small and `IndexedMap` has limitations, so it didn't seem worth the effort. 2025-01-01[CodeGen] LiveRegMatrix: Use allocator through a unique_ptr (#120556)Akshat Oke
`LIU::Matrix` holds on to a pointer to the allocator in LiveRegMatrix and is left hanging when the allocator moves with the LiveRegMatrix. This extends the lifetime of the allocator so that it does not get destroyed when moving a LiveRegMatrix object.
2024-12-06[CodeGen][PM] Initialize analyses with isAnalysis=true (#118779)Akshat Oke
Analyses should be marked as analyses. Otherwise they are prone to get ignored by the legacy analysis cache mechanism and get scheduled redundantly.
2024-10-28VirtRegRewriter: Add implicit register defs for live out undef lanes (#112679)Matt Arsenault
If an undef subregister def is live into another block, we need to maintain a physreg def to track the liveness of those lanes. This would manifest a verifier error after branch folding, when the cloned tail block use no longer had a def. We need to detect interference with other assigned intervals to avoid clobbering the undef lanes defined in other intervals, since the undef def didn't count as interference. This is pretty ugly and adds a new dependency on LiveRegMatrix, keeping it live for one more pass. It also adds a lot of implicit operand spam (we really should have a better representation for this). There is a missing verifier check for this situation. Added an xfailed test that demonstrates this. We may also be able to revert the changes in 47d3cbcf842a036c20c3f1c74255cdfc213f41c2. It might be better to insert an IMPLICIT_DEF before the instruction rather than using the implicit-def operand. Fixes #98474

- Add `LiveIntervalsAnalysis`. - Add `LiveIntervalsPrinterPass`. - Use `LiveIntervalsWrapperPass` in legacy pass manager. - Use `std::unique_ptr` instead of raw pointer for `LICalc`, so destructor and default move constructor can handle it correctly. The rest of the patch offers support that is the case: instead of clearing the query's InterferingVRegs field, we invalidate it. 2020-12-10[X86] AMX programming model.Luo, Yuanke
This patch implements amx programming model that discussed in llvm-dev (http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/llvm-dev/2020-August/144302.html). Thank Hal for the good suggestion in the RA. The fast RA is not in the patch yet. This patch implemeted 7 components. 1. The c interface to end user. 2. The AMX intrinsics in LLVM IR. 3. Transform load/store <256 x i32> to AMX intrinsics or split the type into two <128 x i32>. 4. The Lowering from AMX intrinsics to AMX pseudo instruction. 5. Insert psuedo ldtilecfg and build the def-use between ldtilecfg to amx intruction. 6. The register allocation for tile register. 7. Morph AMX pseudo instruction to AMX real instruction. 2019-01-19Update the file headers across all of the LLVM projects in the monorepoChandler Carruth
to reflect the new license. We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach. Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and repository. llvm-svn: 351636
2018-05-14Rename DEBUG macro to LLVM_DEBUG.Nicola Zaghen
The DEBUG() macro is very generic so it might clash with other projects. The renaming was done as follows: - git grep -l 'DEBUG' | xargs sed -i 's/\bDEBUG\s\?(/LLVM_DEBUG(/g' - git diff -U0 master | ../clang/tools/clang-format/clang-format-diff.py -i -p1 -style LLVM - Manual change to APInt - Manually chage DOCS as regex doesn't match it. In the transition period the DEBUG() macro is still present and aliased to the LLVM_DEBUG() one. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D43624 llvm-svn: 332240
2018-01-31Take into account the cost of local intervals when selecting split candidate.Marina Yatsina
When selecting a split candidate for region splitting, the register allocator tries to predict which candidate will have the cheapest spill cost. Global splitting may cause the creation of local intervals, and they might spill. This patch makes RA take into account the spill cost of local split intervals in use blocks (we already take into account the spill cost in through blocks). A flag ("-condsider-local-interval-cost") controls weather we do this advanced cost calculation (it's on by default for X86 target, off for the rest). 2017-11-17Fix a bunch more layering of CodeGen headers that are in TargetDavid Blaikie

2017-06-06Sort the remaining #include lines in include/... and lib/....Chandler Carruth
I did this a long time ago with a janky python script, but now clang-format has built-in support for this. I fed clang-format every line with a #include and let it re-sort things according to the precise LLVM rules for include ordering baked into clang-format these days. I've reverted a number of files where the results of sorting includes isn't healthy. Either places where we have legacy code relying on particular include ordering (where possible, I'll fix these separately) or where we have particular formatting around #include lines that I didn't want to disturb in this patch. This patch is *entirely* mechanical. If you get merge conflicts or anything, just ignore the changes in this patch and run clang-format over your #include lines in the files. Sorry for any noise here, but it is important to keep these things stable. I was seeing an increasing number of patches with irrelevant re-ordering of #include lines because clang-format was used. This patch at least isolates that churn, makes it easy to skip when resolving conflicts, and gets us to a clean baseline (again). llvm-svn: 304787

The omission of Queries.clear() is perfectly safe because LiveIntervalUnion::Query doesn't contain any data that needs freeing and because LiveRegMatrix::runOnFunction happens to reset the OwningArrayPtr holding Queries every time it is run, so there's no need to zero out the queries either. Not having to do this for very large numbers of physregs is a noticeable constant cost reduction in compilation of small programs. llvm-svn: 200913

Sooooo many of these had incorrect or strange main module includes. I have manually inspected all of these, and fixed the main module include to be the nearest plausible thing I could find. If you own or care about any of these source files, I encourage you to take some time and check that these edits were sensible. I can't have broken anything (I strictly added headers, and reordered them, never removed), but they may not be the headers you'd really like to identify as containing the API being implemented. Many forward declarations and missing includes were added to a header files to allow them to parse cleanly when included first. The main module rule does in fact have its merits. =] llvm-svn: 169131

The RegisterCoalescer understands overlapping live ranges where one register is defined as a copy of the other. When a physreg is defined by a copy from a virtreg, allow those live ranges to overlap: %CL<def> = COPY %vreg11:sub_8bit; GR32_ABCD:%vreg11 %vreg13<def,tied1> = SAR32rCL %vreg13<tied0>, %CL<imp-use,kill> We can assign %vreg11 to %ECX, overlapping the live range of %CL. llvm-svn: 163336
