2025-08-20[lldb] Fix source line annotations for libsanitizers traces (#154247)Julian Lettner
When providing allocation and deallocation traces, the ASan compiler-rt runtime already provides call addresses (`TracePCType::Calls`). On Darwin, system sanitizers (libsanitizers) provides return address. It also discards a few non-user frames at the top of the stack, because these internal libmalloc/libsanitizers stack frames do not provide any value when diagnosing memory errors. Introduce and add handling for `TracePCType::ReturnsNoZerothFrame` to cover this case and enable libsanitizers traces line-level testing. rdar://157596927 --- Commit 1 is a mechanical refactoring to introduce and adopt `TracePCType` enum to replace `pcs_are_call_addresses` bool. It preserve the current behavior: ``` pcs_are_call_addresses: false -> TracePCType::Returns (default) true -> TracePCType::Calls ``` Best reviewed commit by commit.
2025-06-04[lldb/cmake] Implicitly pass arguments to llvm_add_library (#142583)Pavel Labath
If we're not touching them, we don't need to do anything special to pass them along -- with one important caveat: due to how cmake arguments work, the implicitly passed arguments need to be specified before arguments that we handle. This isn't particularly nice, but the alternative is enumerating all arguments that can be used by llvm_add_library and the macros it calls (it also relies on implicit passing of some arguments to llvm_process_sources).

2023-05-22[lldb] Add support for negative integer to {SB,}StructuredDataMed Ismail Bennani
This patch refactors the `StructuredData::Integer` class to make it templated, makes it private and adds 2 public specialization for both `int64_t` & `uint64_t` with a public type aliases, respectively `SignedInteger` & `UnsignedInteger`. It adds new getter for signed and unsigned interger values to the `StructuredData::Object` base class and changes the implementation of `StructuredData::Array::GetItemAtIndexAsInteger` and `StructuredData::Dictionary::GetValueForKeyAsInteger` to support signed and unsigned integers. This patch also adds 2 new `Get{Signed,Unsigned}IntegerValue` to the `SBStructuredData` class and marks `GetIntegerValue` as deprecated. 2023-04-21Make sure SelectMostRelevantFrame happens only when returning to the user.Jim Ingham
This is a user facing action, it is meant to focus the user's attention on something other than the 0th frame when you stop somewhere where that's helpful. For instance, stopping in pthread_kill after an assert will select the assert frame. This is not something you want to have happen internally in lldb, both because internally you really don't want the selected frame changing out from under you, and because the recognizers can do arbitrary work, and that can cause deadlocks or other unexpected behavior. However, it's not something that the current code does explicitly after a stop has been delivered, it's expected to happen implicitly as part of stopping. I changing this to call SMRF explicitly after a user stop, but that got pretty ugly quickly. So I added a bool to control whether to run this and audited all the current uses to determine whether we're returning to the user or not. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D148863

I am not changing the return type of GetPluginNameStatic in this patch, as that would necessitate additional changes, and this patch is big enough as it is. A couple of our Instrumentation runtimes were gathering backtraces, storing it in a StructuredData array and later creating a HistoryThread using this data. By deafult HistoryThread will consider the history PCs as return addresses and thus will substract 1 from them to go to the call address. This is usually correct, but it's also wasteful as when we gather the backtraces ourselves, we have much better information to decide how to backtrace and symbolicate. This patch uses the new GetFrameCodeAddressForSymbolication() to gather the PCs that should be used for symbolication and configures the HistoryThread to just use those PCs as-is. (The MTC plugin was actaully applying a -1 itself and then the HistoryThread would do it again, so this actaully fixes a bug there.) rdar://77027680 Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D101094

This is mostly mechanical from a custom clang-tidy check, with a lot of manual fixups. It uncovers a lot of minor inefficiencies. Summary: A *.cpp file header in LLDB (and in LLDB) should like this: ``` //===-- TestUtilities.cpp -------------------------------------------------===// ``` However in LLDB most of our source files have arbitrary changes to this format and these changes are spreading through LLDB as folks usually just use the existing source files as templates for their new files (most notably the unnecessary editor language indicator `-*- C++ -*-` is spreading and in every review someone is pointing out that this is wrong, resulting in people pointing out that this is done in the same way in other files). This patch removes most of these inconsistencies including the editor language indicators, all the different missing/additional '-' characters, files that center the file name, missing trailing `===//` (mostly caused by clang-format breaking the line). to reflect the new license. We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach. Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only.
