2024-03-04[RemoveDIs] Reapply 3fda50d3915, insert instructions using iteratorsJeremy Morse
I'd reverted this in 6c7805d5d1 after a bad stage. Original commit messsage follows: [NFC][RemoveDIs] Bulk update utilities to insert with iterators As part of the RemoveDIs project we need LLVM to insert instructions using iterators wherever possible, so that the iterators can carry a bit of debug-info. This commit implements some of that by updating the contents of llvm/lib/Transforms/Utils to always use iterator-versions of instruction constructors. There are two general flavours of update: * Almost all call-sites just call getIterator on an instruction * Several make use of an existing iterator (scenarios where the code is actually significant for debug-info) The underlying logic is that any call to getFirstInsertionPt or similar APIs that identify the start of a block need to have that iterator passed directly to the insertion function, without being converted to a bare Instruction pointer along the way. I've also switched DemotePHIToStack to take an optional iterator: it needs to take an iterator, and having a no-insert-location behaviour appears to be important. The constructors for ICmpInst and FCmpInst have been updated too. They're the only instructions that take block _references_ rather than pointers for certain calls, and a future patch is going to make use of default-null block insertion locations. All of this should be NFC.

This reverts commit 3fda50d3915b2163a54a37b602be7783a89dd808. Apparently I've missed a hunk while staging this; will back out for now. Picked up here: https://lab.llvm.org/buildbot/#/builders/139/builds/60429/steps/6/logs/stdio

2020-04-27[IR] Replace all uses of CallBase::getCalledValue() with getCalledOperand().Craig Topper
This method has been commented as deprecated for a while. Remove it and replace all uses with the equivalent getCalledOperand(). I also made a few cleanups in here. For example, to removes use of getElementType on a pointer when we could just use getFunctionType from the call. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D78882
2019-11-13Sink all InitializePasses.h includesReid Kleckner
This file lists every pass in LLVM, and is included by Pass.h, which is very popular. Every time we add, remove, or rename a pass in LLVM, it caused lots of recompilation. I found this fact by looking at this table, which is sorted by the number of times a file was changed over the last 100,000 git commits multiplied by the number of object files that depend on it in the current checkout: recompiles touches affected_files header 342380 95 3604 llvm/include/llvm/ADT/STLExtras.h 314730 234 1345 llvm/include/llvm/InitializePasses.h 307036 118 2602 llvm/include/llvm/ADT/APInt.h 213049 59 3611 llvm/include/llvm/Support/MathExtras.h 170422 47 3626 llvm/include/llvm/Support/Compiler.h 162225 45 3605 llvm/include/llvm/ADT/Optional.h 158319 63 2513 llvm/include/llvm/ADT/Triple.h 140322 39 3598 llvm/include/llvm/ADT/StringRef.h 137647 59 2333 llvm/include/llvm/Support/Error.h 131619 73 1803 llvm/include/llvm/Support/FileSystem.h Before this change, touching InitializePasses.h would cause 1345 files to recompile. 2019-01-19Update the file headers across all of the LLVM projects in the monorepoChandler Carruth
to reflect the new license. We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach. Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and repository. llvm-svn: 351636
2018-05-09Support a funclet operand bundle in LowerInvokeHeejin Ahn
Summary: The current LowerInvoke pass cannot handle invoke instructions with a funclet bundle operand. The order of operands for an invoke instruction is {call arguments, callee, funclet operand (if any), normal dest, unwind dest}. The current code assumes there is no funclet operand and incorrectly includes a funclet operand into call arguments. 2014-04-22[Modules] Fix potential ODR violations by sinking the DEBUG_TYPEChandler Carruth
definition below all of the header #include lines, lib/Transforms/... edition. This one is tricky for two reasons. We again have a couple of passes that define something else before the includes as well. I've sunk their name macros with the DEBUG_TYPE. Also, InstCombine contains headers that need DEBUG_TYPE, so now those headers #define and #undef DEBUG_TYPE around their code, leaving them well formed modular headers. Fixing these headers was a large motivation for all of these changes, as "leaky" macros of this form are hard on the modules implementation. llvm-svn: 206844
2014-03-20Remove LowerInvoke's obsolete "-enable-correct-eh-support" optionMark Seaborn
This option caused LowerInvoke to generate code using SJLJ-based exception handling, but there is no code left that interprets the jmp_buf stack that the resulting code maintained (llvm.sjljeh.jblist). This option has been obsolete for a while, and replaced by SjLjEHPrepare. This leaves the default behaviour of LowerInvoke, which is to convert invokes to calls. 2014-03-09[C++11] Add range based accessors for the Use-Def chain of a Value.Chandler Carruth
This requires a number of steps. 1) Move value_use_iterator into the Value class as an implementation detail 2) Change it to actually be a *Use* iterator rather than a *User* iterator. 3) Add an adaptor which is a User iterator that always looks through the Use to the User. 4) Wrap these in Value::use_iterator and Value::user_iterator typedefs. 5) Add the range adaptors as Value::uses() and Value::users(). 6) Update *all* of the callers to correctly distinguish between whether they wanted a use_iterator (and to explicitly dig out the User when needed), or a user_iterator which makes the Use itself totally opaque. Because #6 requires churning essentially everything that walked the Use-Def chains, I went ahead and added all of the range adaptors and switched them to range-based loops where appropriate. Also because the renaming requires at least churning every line of code, it didn't make any sense to split these up into multiple commits -- all of which would touch all of the same lies of code. The result is still not quite optimal. The Value::use_iterator is a nice regular iterator, but Value::user_iterator is an iterator over User*s rather than over the User objects themselves. As a consequence, it fits a bit awkwardly into the range-based world and it has the weird extra-dereferencing 'operator->' that so many of our iterators have. I think this could be fixed by providing something which transforms a range of T&s into a range of T*s, but that *can* be separated into another patch, and it isn't yet 100% clear whether this is the right move. However, this change gets us most of the benefit and cleans up a substantial amount of code around Use and User. =] llvm-svn: 203364

2013-01-02Move all of the header files which are involved in modelling the LLVM IRChandler Carruth
into their new header subdirectory: include/llvm/IR. This matches the directory structure of lib, and begins to correct a long standing point of file layout clutter in LLVM. There are still more header files to move here, but I wanted to handle them in separate commits to make tracking what files make sense at each layer easier. The only really questionable files here are the target intrinsic tablegen files. But that's a battle I'd rather not fight today. I've updated both CMake and Makefile build systems (I think, and my tests think, but I may have missed something). I've also re-sorted the includes throughout the project. I'll be committing updates to Clang, DragonEgg, and Polly momentarily. llvm-svn: 171366
2012-12-03Use the new script to sort the includes of every file under lib.Chandler Carruth
Sooooo many of these had incorrect or strange main module includes. I have manually inspected all of these, and fixed the main module include to be the nearest plausible thing I could find. If you own or care about any of these source files, I encourage you to take some time and check that these edits were sensible. I can't have broken anything (I strictly added headers, and reordered them, never removed), but they may not be the headers you'd really like to identify as containing the API being implemented. Many forward declarations and missing includes were added to a header files to allow them to parse cleanly when included first. The main module rule does in fact have its merits. =] llvm-svn: 169131

2011-07-09Land the long talked about "type system rewrite" patch. ThisChris Lattner
patch brings numerous advantages to LLVM. One way to look at it is through diffstat: 109 files changed, 3005 insertions(+), 5906 deletions(-) Removing almost 3K lines of code is a good thing. Other advantages include: 1. Value::getType() is a simple load that can be CSE'd, not a mutating union-find operation. 2. Types a uniqued and never move once created, defining away PATypeHolder. 3. Structs can be "named" now, and their name is part of the identity that uniques them. This means that the compiler doesn't merge them structurally which makes the IR much less confusing. 4. Now that there is no way to get a cycle in a type graph without a named struct type, "upreferences" go away. 5. Type refinement is completely gone, which should make LTO much MUCH faster in some common cases with C++ code. 6. Types are now generally immutable, so we can use "Type *" instead "const Type *" everywhere. Downsides of this patch are that it removes some functions from the C API, so people using those will have to upgrade to (not yet added) new API. "LLVM 3.0" is the right time to do this. There are still some cleanups pending after this, this patch is large enough as-is. llvm-svn: 134829
2010-10-19Get rid of static constructors for pass registration. Instead, every pass ↵Owen Anderson
exposes an initializeMyPassFunction(), which must be called in the pass's constructor. This function uses static dependency declarations to recursively initialize the pass's dependencies. Clients that only create passes through the createFooPass() APIs will require no changes. Clients that want to use the CommandLine options for passes will need to manually call the appropriate initialization functions in PassInitialization.h before parsing commandline arguments. I have tested this with all standard configurations of clang and llvm-gcc on Darwin. It is possible that there are problems with the static dependencies that will only be visible with non-standard options.
