2025-03-17[NFC][DebugInfo] Wrap DILineInfo return type with std::optional to handle ↵Zequan Wu
missing debug info. (#129792) Currently, `DIContext::getLineInfoForAddress` and `DIContext::getLineInfoForDataAddress` returns empty DILineInfo when the debug info is missing for the given address. This is not differentiable with the case when debug info is found for the given address but the debug info is default value (filename:linenum is <invalid>:0). This change wraps the return types of `DIContext::getLineInfoForAddress` and `DIContext::getLineInfoForDataAddress` with `std::optional`.
2022-05-23[symbolizer] Parse DW_TAG_variable DIs to show line info for globalsMitch Phillips
Currently, llvm-symbolizer doesn't like to parse .debug_info in order to show the line info for global variables. addr2line does this. In the future, I'm looking to migrate AddressSanitizer off of internal metadata over to using debuginfo, and this is predicated on being able to get the line info for global variables. This patch adds the requisite support for getting the line info from the .debug_info section for symbolizing global variables. This only happens when you ask for a global variable to be symbolized as data. Reviewed By: dblaikie Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D123538

2019-06-24llvm-symbolizer: Add a FRAME command.Peter Collingbourne
This command prints a description of the referenced function's stack frame. For each formal parameter and local variable, the tool prints: - function name - variable name - file/line of declaration - FP-relative variable location (if available) - size in bytes - HWASAN tag offset This information will be used by the HWASAN runtime to identify local variables in UAR reports. 2019-02-27[DebugInfo] add SectionedAddress to DebugInfo interfaces.Alexey Lapshin
That patch is the fix for https://bugs.llvm.org/show_bug.cgi?id=40703 "wrong line number info for obj file compiled with -ffunction-sections" bug. The problem happened with only .o files. If object file contains several .text sections then line number information showed incorrectly. The reason for this is that DwarfLineTable could not detect section which corresponds to specified address(because address is the local to the section). And as the result it could not select proper sequence in the line table. The fix is to pass SectionIndex with the address. So that it would be possible to differentiate addresses from various sections. With this fix llvm-objdump shows correct line numbers for disassembled code. 2019-01-19Update the file headers across all of the LLVM projects in the monorepoChandler Carruth
to reflect the new license. We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach. Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and repository. llvm-svn: 351636
2017-06-06Sort the remaining #include lines in include/... and lib/....Chandler Carruth
I did this a long time ago with a janky python script, but now clang-format has built-in support for this. I fed clang-format every line with a #include and let it re-sort things according to the precise LLVM rules for include ordering baked into clang-format these days. I've reverted a number of files where the results of sorting includes isn't healthy. Either places where we have legacy code relying on particular include ordering (where possible, I'll fix these separately) or where we have particular formatting around #include lines that I didn't want to disturb in this patch. This patch is *entirely* mechanical. If you get merge conflicts or anything, just ignore the changes in this patch and run clang-format over your #include lines in the files. Sorry for any noise here, but it is important to keep these things stable. I was seeing an increasing number of patches with irrelevant re-ordering of #include lines because clang-format was used. This patch at least isolates that churn, makes it easy to skip when resolving conflicts, and gets us to a clean baseline (again). llvm-svn: 304787

2016-04-27[PDB] Fix function names for private symbols in PDBsReid Kleckner
Summary: llvm-symbolizer wants to get linkage names of functions for historical reasons. Linkage names are only recorded in the PDB for public symbols, and the linkage name is apparently stored separately in some "public symbol" record. We had a workaround in PDBContext which would look for such symbols when the user requested linkage names. However, when given an address that was truly in a private function and public funciton, we would accidentally find nearby public symbols and return those function names. The fix is to look for both function symbols and public symbols and only prefer the public symbol name if the addresses of the symbols agree. 2015-12-18Improve DWARFDebugFrame::parse to also handle __eh_frame.Pete Cooper
LLVM MC has single methods which can handle the output of EH frame and DWARF CIE's and FDE's. This code improves DWARFDebugFrame::parse to do the same for parsing. This also allows llvm-objdump to support the --dwarf=frames option which objdump supports. This option dumps the .eh_frame section using the new code in DWARFDebugFrame::parse. http://reviews.llvm.org/D15535 Reviewed by Rafael Espindola. llvm-svn: 256008
