2024-01-22[lldb][NFCI] Remove EventData* param from BroadcastEvent (#78773)Alex Langford
BroadcastEvent currently takes its EventData* param and shoves it into an Event object, which takes ownership of the pointer and places it into a shared_ptr to manage the lifetime. Instead of relying on `new` and passing raw pointers around, I think it would make more sense to create the shared_ptr up front.
2022-09-19[lldb] Reset breakpoint hit count before new runsFelipe de Azevedo Piovezan
A common debugging pattern is to set a breakpoint that only stops after a number of hits is recorded. The current implementation never resets the hit count of breakpoints; as such, if a user re-`run`s their program, the debugger will never stop on such a breakpoint again. This behavior is arguably undesirable, as it renders such breakpoints ineffective on all but the first run. This commit changes the implementation of the `Will{Launch, Attach}` methods so that they reset the _target's_ breakpoint hitcounts. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D133858

2020-01-24[lldb][NFC] Fix all formatting errors in .cpp file headersRaphael Isemann
Summary: A *.cpp file header in LLDB (and in LLDB) should like this: ``` //===-- TestUtilities.cpp -------------------------------------------------===// ``` However in LLDB most of our source files have arbitrary changes to this format and these changes are spreading through LLDB as folks usually just use the existing source files as templates for their new files (most notably the unnecessary editor language indicator `-*- C++ -*-` is spreading and in every review someone is pointing out that this is wrong, resulting in people pointing out that this is done in the same way in other files). This patch removes most of these inconsistencies including the editor language indicators, all the different missing/additional '-' characters, files that center the file name, missing trailing `===//` (mostly caused by clang-format breaking the line). 2019-12-04Change Target::FindBreakpointsByName to return Expected<vector>Joseph Tremoulet
Summary: Using a BreakpointList corrupts the breakpoints' IDs because BreakpointList::Add sets the ID, so use a vector instead, and update the signature to return the vector wrapped in an llvm::Expected which can propagate any error from the inner call to StringIsBreakpointName. Note that, despite the similar name, SBTarget::FindBreakpointsByName doesn't suffer the same problem, because it uses a SBBreakpointList, which is more like a BreakpointIDList than a BreakpointList under the covers. Add a check to TestBreakpointNames that, without this fix, notices the ID getting mutated and fails. 2019-01-19Update the file headers across all of the LLVM projects in the monorepoChandler Carruth
to reflect the new license. We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach. Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and repository. llvm-svn: 351636
2019-01-08[BreakpointList] Simplify/modernize BreakpointList (NFC)Jonas Devlieghere
I was looking at the code in BreakpointList.cpp and found it deserved a quick cleanup. - Use std::vector instead of a std::list. - Extract duplicate code for notifying. - Remove code duplication when returning a const value. - Use range-based for loop. - Use early return in loops. 2018-11-11Remove header grouping comments.Jonas Devlieghere
This patch removes the comments grouping header includes. They were added after running IWYU over the LLDB codebase. However they add little value, are often outdates and burdensome to maintain. llvm-svn: 346626

2017-09-14Make breakpoint names real entities.Jim Ingham
When introduced, breakpoint names were just tags that you could apply to breakpoints that would allow you to refer to a breakpoint when you couldn't capture the ID, or to refer to a collection of breakpoints. This change makes the names independent holders of breakpoint options that you can then apply to breakpoints when you add the name to the breakpoint. It adds the "breakpoint name configure" command to set up or reconfigure breakpoint names. There is also full support for then in the SB API, including a new SBBreakpointName class. The connection between the name and the breakpoints sharing the name remains live, so if you reconfigure the name, all the breakpoint options all change as well. This allows a quick way to share complex breakpoint behavior among a bunch of breakpoints, and a convenient way to iterate on the set. You can also create a name from a breakpoint, allowing a quick way to copy options from one breakpoint to another. I also added the ability to make hidden and delete/disable protected names. When applied to a breakpoint, you will only be able to list, delete or disable that breakpoint if you refer to it explicitly by ID. This feature will allow GUI's that need to use breakpoints for their own purposes to keep their breakpoints from getting accidentally disabled or deleted. <rdar://problem/22094452> llvm-svn: 313292
2017-05-12Rename Error -> Status.Zachary Turner
This renames the LLDB error class to Status, as discussed on the lldb-dev mailing list. A change of this magnitude cannot easily be done without find and replace, but that has potential to catch unwanted occurrences of common strings such as "Error". Every effort was made to find all the obvious things such as the word "Error" appearing in a string, etc, but it's possible there are still some lingering occurences left around. Hopefully nothing too serious. llvm-svn: 302872

2016-09-06*** This commit represents a complete reformatting of the LLDB source codeKate Stone
*** to conform to clang-format’s LLVM style. This kind of mass change has *** two obvious implications: Firstly, merging this particular commit into a downstream fork may be a huge effort. Alternatively, it may be worth merging all changes up to this commit, performing the same reformatting operation locally, and then discarding the merge for this particular commit. The commands used to accomplish this reformatting were as follows (with current working directory as the root of the repository): find . \( -iname "*.c" -or -iname "*.cpp" -or -iname "*.h" -or -iname "*.mm" \) -exec clang-format -i {} + find . -iname "*.py" -exec autopep8 --in-place --aggressive --aggressive {} + ; The version of clang-format used was 3.9.0, and autopep8 was 1.2.4. Secondly, “blame” style tools will generally point to this commit instead of a meaningful prior commit. There are alternatives available that will attempt to look through this change and find the appropriate prior commit. YMMV. llvm-svn: 280751

2013-11-05<rdar://problem/15367122>Greg Clayton
Fixed the test case for "test/functionalities/exec/TestExec.py" on Darwin. The issue was breakpoints were persisting and causing problems. When we exec, we need to clear out the process and target and start fresh with nothing and let the breakpoints populate themselves again. This patch correctly clears out the breakpoints and also flushes the process so that the objects (process/thread/frame) give out valid information. llvm-svn: 194106
2013-01-25<rdar://problem/13069948>Greg Clayton
Major fixed to allow reading files that are over 4GB. The main problems were that the DataExtractor was using 32 bit offsets as a data cursor, and since we mmap all of our object files we could run into cases where if we had a very large core file that was over 4GB, we were running into the 4GB boundary. So I defined a new "lldb::offset_t" which should be used for all file offsets. After making this change, I enabled warnings for data loss and for enexpected implicit conversions temporarily and found a ton of things that I fixed. Any functions that take an index internally, should use "size_t" for any indexes and also should return "size_t" for any sizes of collections. llvm-svn: 173463

2012-05-04Don't expose the pthread_mutex_t underlying the Mutex & Mutex::Locker classes. Jim Ingham
No one was using it and Locker(pthread_mutex_t *) immediately asserts for pthread_mutex_t's that don't come from a Mutex anyway. Rather than try to make that work, we should maintain the Mutex abstraction and not pass around the platform implementation... Make Mutex::Locker::Lock take a Mutex & or a Mutex *, and remove the constructor taking a pthread_mutex_t *. You no longer need to call Mutex::GetMutex to pass your mutex to a Locker (you can't in fact, since I made it private.) llvm-svn: 156221
