2024-08-30[lldb] Deal with SupportFiles in SourceManager (NFC) (#106740)Jonas Devlieghere
To support detecting MD5 checksum mismatches, deal with SupportFiles rather than a plain FileSpecs in the SourceManager.
2023-08-09[lldb] Sink StreamFile into lldbHostAlex Langford
StreamFile subclasses Stream (from lldbUtility) and is backed by a File (from lldbHost). It does not depend on anything from lldbCore or any of its sibling libraries, so I think it makes sense for this to live in lldbHost instead. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D157460
2023-01-04[lldb] Remove unneeded .get() NFCFangrui Song
2022-12-19Revert "[lldb] Remove redundant .c_str() and .get() calls"Muhammad Omair Javaid
This reverts commit fbaf48be0ff6fb24b9aa8fe9c2284fe88a8798dd. This has broken all LLDB buildbots: https://lab.llvm.org/buildbot/#/builders/68/builds/44990 https://lab.llvm.org/buildbot/#/builders/96/builds/33160
2022-12-18[lldb] Remove redundant .c_str() and .get() callsFangrui Song
Removing .c_str() has a semantics difference, but the use scenarios likely do not matter as we don't have NUL in the strings.
2022-01-20[lldb] Decouple instrumentation from the reproducersJonas Devlieghere
Remove the last remaining references to the reproducers from the instrumentation. This patch renames the relevant files and macros. Differential revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D117712
2022-01-09[lldb] Remove LLDB_RECORD_RESULT macroJonas Devlieghere
2022-01-09[lldb] Remove reproducer instrumentationJonas Devlieghere
This patch removes most of the reproducer instrumentation. It keeps around the LLDB_RECORD_* macros for logging. See [1] for more details. [1] https://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/lldb-dev/2021-September/017045.html Differential revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D116847

Identified with readability-redundant-member-init.
2020-06-24[lldb/API] Use std::make_unique<> (NFC)Jonas Devlieghere
I was holding off on this change until we moved to C++14 as to not have to convert llvm::make_unique to std::make_unique. That happened a while ago so here's the first patch for the API which had a bunch of raw `new`s.
2020-02-17[lldb] Replace empty ctor en dtor bodies with =default (NFC)Jonas Devlieghere
Use = default instead of empty constructor and destructor bodies in the API layer.
2020-01-24[lldb][NFC] Fix all formatting errors in .cpp file headersRaphael Isemann
Summary: A *.cpp file header in LLDB (and in LLDB) should like this: ``` //===-- TestUtilities.cpp -------------------------------------------------===// ``` However in LLDB most of our source files have arbitrary changes to this format and these changes are spreading through LLDB as folks usually just use the existing source files as templates for their new files (most notably the unnecessary editor language indicator `-*- C++ -*-` is spreading and in every review someone is pointing out that this is wrong, resulting in people pointing out that this is done in the same way in other files). This patch removes most of these inconsistencies including the editor language indicators, all the different missing/additional '-' characters, files that center the file name, missing trailing `===//` (mostly caused by clang-format breaking the line). 2019-05-23[lldb] NFC modernize codebase with modernize-use-nullptrKonrad Kleine
Summary: NFC = [[ https://llvm.org/docs/Lexicon.html#nfc | Non functional change ]] This commit is the result of modernizing the LLDB codebase by using `nullptr` instread of `0` or `NULL`. See https://clang.llvm.org/extra/clang-tidy/checks/modernize-use-nullptr.html for more information. This is the command I ran and I to fix and format the code base: ``` run-clang-tidy.py \ -header-filter='.*' \ -checks='-*,modernize-use-nullptr' \ -fix ~/dev/llvm-project/lldb/.* \ -format \ -style LLVM \ -p ~/llvm-builds/debug-ninja-gcc ``` NOTE: There were also changes to `llvm/utils/unittest` but I did not include them because I felt that maybe this library shall be updated in isolation somehow. NOTE: I know this is a rather large commit but it is a nobrainer in most parts. 2019-04-03[Reproducers] Capture return values of functions returning by ptr/refJonas Devlieghere
For some reason I had convinced myself that functions returning by pointer or reference do not require recording their result. However, after further considering I don't see how that could work, at least not with the current implementation. Interestingly enough, the reproducer instrumentation already (mostly) accounts for this, though the lldb-instr tool did not. This patch adds the missing macros and updates the lldb-instr tool. 2019-03-19[lldb] [Reproducer] Move SBRegistry registration into declaring filesMichal Gorny
Move SBRegistry method registrations from SBReproducer.cpp into files declaring the individual APIs, in order to reduce the memory consumption during build and improve maintainability. The current humongous SBRegistry constructor exhausts all memory on a NetBSD system with 4G RAM + 4G swap, therefore making it impossible to build LLDB. 2019-03-06[Reproducers] Add SBReproducer macrosJonas Devlieghere
This patch adds the SBReproducer macros needed to capture and reply the corresponding calls. This patch was generated by running the lldb-instr tool on the API source files. Differential revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D57475 llvm-svn: 355459
2019-02-13Replace 'ap' with 'up' suffix in variable names. (NFC)Jonas Devlieghere
The `ap` suffix is a remnant of lldb's former use of auto pointers, before they got deprecated. Although all their uses were replaced by unique pointers, some variables still carried the suffix. In r353795 I removed another auto_ptr remnant, namely redundant calls to ::get for unique_pointers. Jim justly noted that this is a good opportunity to clean up the variable names as well. I went over all the changes to ensure my find-and-replace didn't have any undesired side-effects. I hope I didn't miss any, but if you end up at this commit doing a git blame on a weirdly named variable, please know that the change was unintentional. llvm-svn: 353912
2019-01-19Update the file headers across all of the LLVM projects in the monorepoChandler Carruth
to reflect the new license. We understand that people may be surprised that we're moving the header entirely to discuss the new license. We checked this carefully with the Foundation's lawyer and we believe this is the correct approach. Essentially, all code in the project is now made available by the LLVM project under our new license, so you will see that the license headers include that license only. Some of our contributors have contributed code under our old license, and accordingly, we have retained a copy of our old license notice in the top-level files in each project and repository. llvm-svn: 351636

2017-02-02Move classes from Core -> Utility.Zachary Turner
This moves the following classes from Core -> Utility. ConstString Error RegularExpression Stream StreamString The goal here is to get lldbUtility into a state where it has no dependendencies except on itself and LLVM, so it can be the starting point at which to start untangling LLDB's dependencies. These are all low level and very widely used classes, and previously lldbUtility had dependencies up to lldbCore in order to use these classes. So moving then down to lldbUtility makes sense from both the short term and long term perspective in solving this problem. Differential Revision: https://reviews.llvm.org/D29427 llvm-svn: 293941
2016-09-21add stop column highlighting supportTodd Fiala
This change introduces optional marking of the column within a source line where a thread is stopped. This marking will show up when the source code for a thread stop is displayed, when the debug info knows the column information, and if the optional column marking is enabled. There are two separate methods for handling the marking of the stop column: * via ANSI terminal codes, which are added inline to the source line display. The default ANSI mark-up is to underline the column. * via a pure text-based caret that is added in the appropriate column in a newly-inserted blank line underneath the source line in question. There are some new options that control how this all works. * settings set stop-show-column This takes one of 4 values: * ansi-or-caret: use the ANSI terminal code mechanism if LLDB is running with color enabled; if not, use the caret-based, pure text method (see the "caret" mode below). * ansi: only use the ANSI terminal code mechanism to highlight the stop line. If LLDB is running with color disabled, no stop column marking will occur. * caret: only use the pure text caret method, which introduces a newly-inserted line underneath the current line, where the only character in the new line is a caret that highlights the stop column in question. * none: no stop column marking will be attempted. * settings set stop-show-column-ansi-prefix This is a text format that indicates the ANSI formatting code to insert into the stream immediately preceding the column where the stop column character will be marked up. It defaults to ${ansi.underline}; however, it can contain any valid LLDB format codes, e.g. ${ansi.fg.red}${ansi.bold}${ansi.underline} * settings set stop-show-column-ansi-suffix This is the text format that specifies the ANSI terminal codes to end the markup that was started with the prefix described above. It defaults to: ${ansi.normal}. This should be sufficient for the common cases. Significant leg-work was done by Adrian Prantl. 2016-09-06*** This commit represents a complete reformatting of the LLDB source codeKate Stone
*** to conform to clang-format’s LLVM style. This kind of mass change has *** two obvious implications: Firstly, merging this particular commit into a downstream fork may be a huge effort. Alternatively, it may be worth merging all changes up to this commit, performing the same reformatting operation locally, and then discarding the merge for this particular commit. The commands used to accomplish this reformatting were as follows (with current working directory as the root of the repository): find . \( -iname "*.c" -or -iname "*.cpp" -or -iname "*.h" -or -iname "*.mm" \) -exec clang-format -i {} + find . -iname "*.py" -exec autopep8 --in-place --aggressive --aggressive {} + ; The version of clang-format used was 3.9.0, and autopep8 was 1.2.4. Secondly, “blame” style tools will generally point to this commit instead of a meaningful prior commit. There are alternatives available that will attempt to look through this change and find the appropriate prior commit. YMMV. llvm-svn: 280751
2015-05-29Don't #include "lldb-python.h" from anywhere.Zachary Turner
Since interaction with the python interpreter is moving towards being more isolated, we won't be able to include this header from normal files anymore, all includes of it should be localized to the python library which will live under source/bindings/API/Python after a future patch. None of the files that were including this header actually depended on it anyway, so it was just a dead include in every single instance. llvm-svn: 238581
2013-03-19<rdar://problem/13443931>Greg Clayton
Fixed a crasher in the SourceManager where it wasn't checking the m_target member variable for NULL. In doing this fix, I hardened this class to have weak pointers to the debugger and target in case they do go away. I also changed SBSourceManager to hold onto weak pointers to the debugger and target so they don't keep objects alive by holding a strong reference to them. llvm-svn: 177365

2012-01-30SBFrame is now threadsafe using some extra tricks. One issue is that stackGreg Clayton
frames might go away (the object itself, not the actual logical frame) when we are single stepping due to the way we currently sometimes end up flushing frames when stepping in/out/over. They later will come back to life represented by another object yet they have the same StackID. Now when you get a lldb::SBFrame object, it will track the frame it is initialized with until the thread goes away or the StackID no longer exists in the stack for the thread it was created on. It uses a weak_ptr to both the frame and thread and also stores the StackID. These three items allow us to determine when the stack frame object has gone away (the weak_ptr will be NULL) and allows us to find the correct frame again. In our test suite we had such cases where we were just getting lucky when something like this happened: 1 - stop at breakpoint 2 - get first frame in thread where we stopped 3 - run an expression that causes the program to JIT and run code 4 - run more expressions on the frame from step 2 which was very very luckily still around inside a shared pointer, yet, not part of the current thread (a new stack frame object had appeared with the same stack ID and depth). We now avoid all such issues and properly keep up to date, or we start returning errors when the frame doesn't exist and always responds with invalid answers. Also fixed the UserSettingsController (not going to rewrite this just yet) so that it doesn't crash on shutdown. Using weak_ptr's came in real handy to track when the master controller has already gone away and this allowed me to pull out the previous NotifyOwnerIsShuttingDown() patch as it is no longer needed. llvm-svn: 149231

2011-04-23Fixed the SymbolContext::DumpStopContext() to correctly indent and dumpGreg Clayton
inline contexts when the deepest most block is not inlined. Added source path remappings to the lldb_private::Target class that allow it to remap paths found in debug info so we can find source files that are elsewhere on the current system. Fixed disassembly by function name to disassemble inline functions that are inside other functions much better and to show enough context before the disassembly output so you can tell where things came from. Added the ability to get more than one address range from a SymbolContext class for the case where a block or function has discontiguous address ranges. llvm-svn: 130044

2010-06-23Very large changes that were needed in order to allow multiple connectionsGreg Clayton
to the debugger from GUI windows. Previously there was one global debugger instance that could be accessed that had its own command interpreter and current state (current target/process/thread/frame). When a GUI debugger was attached, if it opened more than one window that each had a console window, there were issues where the last one to setup the global debugger object won and got control of the debugger. To avoid this we now create instances of the lldb_private::Debugger that each has its own state: - target list for targets the debugger instance owns - current process/thread/frame - its own command interpreter - its own input, output and error file handles to avoid conflicts - its own input reader stack So now clients should call: SBDebugger::Initialize(); // (static function) SBDebugger debugger (SBDebugger::Create()); // Use which ever file handles you wish debugger.SetErrorFileHandle (stderr, false); debugger.SetOutputFileHandle (stdout, false); debugger.SetInputFileHandle (stdin, true); // main loop SBDebugger::Terminate(); // (static function) SBDebugger::Initialize() and SBDebugger::Terminate() are ref counted to ensure nothing gets destroyed too early when multiple clients might be attached. Cleaned up the command interpreter and the CommandObject and all subclasses to take more appropriate arguments. llvm-svn: 106615
